If you're like me, chances are you're using some sort of app or gadget to track your fitness goals. Whether it's something as simple as using a Fitbit fitness tracker, keeping up your profile on the Fitocracy social network, or even using the built-in Bluetooth functionality on your LifeSpan desk treadmill to track your step count, fitness stat tracking is one of the easiest ways to stay motivated and on the right path.

I've been using a calorie counter app on my iPhone in conjunction with old-fashioned written notes to keep track of my progress at the gym, and it's paid off in spades, but even then, it can be easy to fall off the bandwagon.

Lifehacker knows this too, and they've reached out to Dick Talens, co-founder of Fitocracy, and Derek Flanzraich, founder/CEO of Greatist, to find out how best to ensure your bad fitness habits stay dead.

Alternatively, if you're not already exploring some ways to get active, now's a great time to do so. It's currently Healthy Texas Week, making it as good a time as any to jump start your healthy lifestyle. If you're interested in getting your office or neighborhood excited to get healthy with you, the Healthy Texas Week website has plenty of ideas to help get the ball rolling.
