Taking the Fright Out of Freight: Shipping Options for Your UPLIFT Desk

You’ve selected all of the options on your UPLIFT Desk, from the size of the desktop to the color of the frame, but there’s still one more choice to be selected: the shipping method. Unless you’re fortunate enough to live within easy driving distance of our central Texas showroom, your UPLIFT desk order will be shipped to your address. Smaller orders are typically sent via UPS, and will be delivered to your door (or wherever your UPS packages are normally left) on a weekday. We’ll email you a tracking number so that you’ll know what day your order should arrive.

If your order includes multiple desks or a custom top, though, we’ll contact you about shipping your desk via freight. While it may be unfamiliar to the average shopper, the freight process is specially designed to make it safer and simpler to ship a large order. When a freight order is packed, the individual boxes are wrapped together on a wooden pallet, which is then loaded onto a truck with a 53 foot trailer for safe transit from our Austin warehouse to your home or office. The pallet can be easily maneuvered with a forklift, but don’t worry, you won’t need any forklifting skills yourself - unless you’re using your UPLIFT desk as a dinner table! For delivery addresses that don’t have a raised loading dock or forklift available, we’ll send a truck with a lift gate so that the pallet can be lowered to the ground.

Typical freight shipments take about four to six business days to reach their destination. We’ll also send you a PRO number that you can use to track your freight shipment on the carrier’s website. One or two days before the expected delivery, the freight driver will call to schedule a four hour delivery window, typically during the 9-5 business day. Unlike with our UPS shipments, you’ll need to be present to receive the freight delivery. Once the pallet is off the truck, it’s up to you (and your helpful friends or co-workers) to carry the boxes inside. The pallet itself will stay behind with your order, and you are welcome to discard, recycle, or re-purpose it as you’d like.
