UPLIFT Desk Review
As standing desks become more popular, the choice becomes harder. With more standing desks than ever, it can be hard to know which one to choose. Fortunately, one desk stands above the rest! The UPLIFT Desk has the perfect blend of best-in-class specs and unsurpassed value, making it the #1 standing desk on the market. That's why it earned notices from top publications like Forbes, which recently published a glowing UPLIFT Desk review. The write-up also featured an interview with Jon Paulsen, certified professional ergonomist and the designer of the UPLIFT Desk, who gave some fascinating insights into the benefits of a sit-stand desk.
Rodger Dean Duncan: You’re obviously a proponent of sit-stand office arrangements because you created the UPLIFT Desk. What are the research findings on the benefits of this kind of furniture?
Jon Paulsen: When it comes to the benefits of using a sit-stand desk, the science is in. Dozens of peer-reviewed studies demonstrate the significant health benefits of changing positions, and the positive effect that movement (blood flow, etc.) has on our overall physical comfort and health. For example, a 2011 study by the Centers for Disease Control noted a 54 percent decrease in musculoskeletal pain among workers who alternated from sitting to standing throughout the day. Similarly, a 2014 study by the University of Cincinnati reported significant decreases in shoulder and back pain when participants varied their postures. Even more important, periodic standing reduces the risk of a host of problems including obesity, heart disease, diabetes, metabolic disorder, and even some cancers. When we sit too long, everything in our bodies slows down. It’s harder to clear fats from blood, to process insulin, to keep muscles active and spines flexible, leading to soreness and possible organ damage. Even our mental functions slow because we’re not moving enough to pump much blood to the brain.
The positive notices don't stop there! It was also voted the #1 height-adjustable desk solution by Lifehacker readers.
And Huffington Post praised the life-changing health benefits in their review of the UPLIFT Desk:
Once assembled, I programmed the attached touchpad for two automatic heights, one is 41", or 3.42 feet tall, the height I use for standing, and the other, 29", or 2.42 feet, the standard size for sitting. With a touch of the button, I effortlessly lower the desk for someone who wants to sit and use my desk, but in the several weeks I've been standing, I only did that once.
I'm told I now join other standing desk users at Google, NBC, the University of Notre Dame (Go Irish!), MIT, The University of Texas at Austin (Go Horns!), Yahoo, eBay and Boeing.
