Workrite vs. ESI Non-VESA Monitor Conversion Bracket Review

If you need to mount a non-VESA monitor to a monitor arm, you've got some great choices!

If you've been following this blog for a while, by this point you're sure to know how much we love monitor arms at Human Solution. Even the slightest adjustments on your display's distance, height, and angle can help you reap big ergonomic benefits if you spend a lot of time in front of a computer (which, let's be honest, is most of us these days). While most modern LCD monitors - and many older ones - sport a VESA-compatible 100mm x 100mm or 75mm x 75mm hole pattern that allows them to mount directly to a monitor arm's VESA plate, there's a number of unique models on the market that are unfortunately not VESA- compatible. Luckily, there's a solution.

The ESI Encloze Non-VESA Monitor Conversion Bracket and Workrite Non-VESA Mount Bracket are two easy ways to mount your non-VESA display to any of our monitor arms utilizing a standard 100mm x 100mm or 75mm x 75mm VESA plate (please note that the ESI Encloze will only fit to arms with a 75mm x 75mm pattern plate). While most monitors feature a series of holes drilled into the back of the display in a square pattern, these VESA brackets instead clamp around the outside edges of the monitor with width-adjustable arms, holding it securely regardless of the display size. It should be noted that while the ESI model expands and tightens down with a hex key, you will need a wrench or pliers to snugly tighten down the included nyloc nuts for a secure fit. Once the brackets are attached snugly on the monitor, a standard monitor arm can be attached thanks to a plate in the center of the bracket that features VESA-compatible mounting holes. Both display brackets are compatible with any VESA-compatible monitor arms, and each offers a relatively wide range of display sizes for monitor mounting.

The ESI Encloze is a simple yet stylish option for smaller, lighter displays, capable of clamping onto displays 18.5" - 22.4" W, 11" - 14.5" H, and up to 1" thick, with a maximum weight capacity of 14 lbs. The Workrite Non-VESA Mount Bracket offers a wider range of monitor compatibility, supporting monitors from 18.5" - 26" W, 11.5" - 16.25" H, and up to 1.75" thick. Note that the measurements used here are not screen sizes, but rather physical dimensions. For example, a monitor with a 24" diagonal screen may actually only be 22" wide, so be sure to measure your display's physical width, height, and depth when making a decision.

Whether you pick ESI or Workrite, either is a great fit with the UPLIFT Monitor Arm!

Additionally, since our most popular monitor arms are counterbalanced to provide fingertip adjustment for displays within a certain weight range, be sure to add the weight of the bracket to the weight of your display when choosing a monitor arm. The ESI Encloze adds roughly 3 lbs to the total display weight, while the Workrite model adds 4.5 lbs. For some displays, this can be the difference between being too heavy and fitting just right on your monitor arm of choice, so it's important to double-check the total weight of the bracket and monitor and compare it to the listed weight range of your monitor arm.

One great option for your VESA-ready display is our UPLIFT Monitor Arm. These flexible arms allow for fingertip adjustment and simple installation with a reliable counterbalance mechanism that floats your monitor above your desk wherever you want it. Pair one with your converted monitor and you'll be ready to see your monitors in a whole new way! Learn more about VESA conversion brackets and monitor arms at TheHumanSolution.com.
