UPLIFT Bamboo Stand Up Desk

60x30 Bamboo Rectangular Desk (top down view)

Clean Cut Desktops Made from Genuine Bamboo

Easy on the eyes and Mother Earth, our bamboo desktops are made from fast-growing and sustainable Moso bamboo, which is technically a species of grass. Expert desk makers source the material from forests in Asia, then harden the reeds and carbonize or "caramelize" them, to bring out unique, rich colors that vary from light golden brown, to dramatic shades of dark honey brown in our dark brown tops. You'll love the grain patterns on its top and edges.

You'll have your choice from a rectangular or curved desktop on your desk. Our curved desktop style boasts an inner edge cutout that lets you sit closer to your work, with a shallow bevel to cradle your wrists in the edge closest to you.

Looking for more bamboo desk options? We also offer 120 Degree, Curved Corner, and L-Shaped Standing Desks. For even more information, check out our comprehensive Desktop Brochure (pdf).

The UPLIFT V2 Advantage

In addition to being a beautiful desk to look at, our UPLIFT V2 Bamboo Stand Up Desk comes with newly-included features that can help you work better. The UPLIFT V2 Bamboo Standing desk boasts increased stability, new safety features, and even more reliability than before. Built with contract-grade quality (so you know it's made to last you years in the office), when you invest in an UPLIFT V2, you'll get all of this and so much more:

    • Certified sturdy, both UPLIFT V2 and UPLIFT V2-Commercial Frames meet the ANSI/BIFMA X5.5-2021 Desk Standard for durability
    • Mounting point system with 48 built-in, patented mounting points to use for a collection of accessories
    • 3-stage legs that are 33% faster than 2-stage legs, letting you raise and lower your desk quicker
    • Powerful dual motors (one in each leg) easily lift up to 355 lbs
    • Improved anti-collision feature that stops your desk if it bumps into people or objects
    • 15 year warranty on all mechanical, electrical, and frame components of the desk
    • Quiet 48 dB operation means you don't distract others when adjusting

Which Frame Is Right for You?

For starters, the UPLIFT V2 Frame comes with a height range of 25.5" - 51.1" (with a 1" desktop installed), a range generous enough for most people and projects. Packed with advanced safety features, you can work with confidence that your desk will be safe at home and in the office. It also meets ANSI/BIFMA durability standards.

The UPLIFT V2-Commercial Frame, on the other hand, features a height range of 22.6" - 48.7" (with a 1" desktop installed). That means this commercial-grade desk has a lower starting height, a lower max height, and a larger overall height-adjustment range than the UPLIFT V2 Frame. To increase stability, UPLIFT Desk included a lower stability crossbar in its design. Created specifically to meet the ANSI/BIFMA G1-2013 height standard, which is required by a lot of the world's largest companies, it also meets the ANSI/BIFMA durability standard.

The UPLIFT V2-Commercial Frame also supports ergonomic working postures (pdf) for 5th percentile females through 95th percentile males, in positions for both sitting and standing.

Enjoy Adding Accessories to Your Frame

The frame on your UPLIFT V2 Standing Desk comes with a hidden secret underneath—a system of 48 individual mounting points that allow you to install accessories directly to your frame. All discreetly built into the frame, these holes allow you to attach things like desk extensions, CPU holders, and power strips to your workstation. You'll even have the option to add an under-desk hammock to yours, for those afternoon power naps (available now).

Note: the hammock is only compatible with the UPLIFT V2 Frame, and is not compatible with the UPLIFT V2-Commercial Frame because it interferes with its stability crossbar.

Unlock Advanced Features with the Advanced Keypad

Save time when raising and lower your desk and enjoy all of the features of the UPLIFT V2 with the Advanced Keypad.

Work with easy one-touch adjustments on four programmable memory buttons. Transition from sitting to standing postures in seconds—just by picking your preferred preset on the smart keypad.

Installing this keypad gives you advanced safety features, too, like anti-collision sensitivity and keypad child lock, making your desk the safest one in the office. Rest easy that your desk will only move when you want it to, and if it does come into contact with things in its environment, it's intelligent enough to know to stop.

The desk's maximum and minimum heights are also adjustable; set its upper and lower height limits, preventing your desktop from hitting shelves above, or file cabinets below, ever again.

Lastly, to reduce distractions, an auto-dark LED display will dim 10 seconds after each use, letting you keep your focus on your work and not on your beautiful new keypad.

Bamboo Desktop FAQs

  1. How is this bamboo desktop different from others on the market?

UPLIFT Desk's bamboo desktops start at a full 1" thick, which is a whole 25% thicker than other desk manufacturers offer. We also think it looks prettier, too.

  2. Is this a veneer of bamboo or solid?

All bamboo desktops made by UPLIFT Desk are constructed from 100% solid, pressed Moso bamboo. They are not veneered, in other words.

  3. Is this desk durable enough for me?

Yes, bamboo makes a fine desktop option for most setups and tasks. Did you know that bamboo reeds are 40% harder than oak? And at a whopping 1" thick, you don't have to worry about your bamboo desktop sagging or bending, even if you choose a wider desk, like our 72" wide desktops.

  4. What color is the bamboo desktop?

Take a look at our tops—our carbonized bamboo desktops' color can best be described as a yellowish-brown honey color. But keep in mind, since each desktop is composed of 100% real bamboo, each will be different and contain unique variations of color in each.

  5. Is this 100% solid bamboo, or if I cut it open will the desktop be hollow inside?

This is 100% solid bamboo that has been pressed together to form a durable desktop that you'll love to work at.

  6. Do you seal or finish the bamboo?

Yes, our bamboo is sealed with a safe, toxin-free clear coat that protects it against wear and tear, giving your desk a long life.

  7. Why is your bamboo desktop as affordable as your laminate desktops?

We're glad you asked! Since bamboo is a species of grass, it grows at a fast pace. The bamboo that is harvested to make our bamboo tops is readily available as compared to our reclaimed or solid wood desktops, which is something we took into account when pricing our tops. This lets you get an eco-friendly desk that sports a similar look to real wood, but at a fraction of the price!

  8. Would you say this bamboo scratches easily?

The bamboo is very durable, but that doesn't make it unscratchable! We suggest taking it easy with writing directly on your desktop or placing sharp objects on top, as these can dent and scratch its surface.

  9. Where do you get your bamboo from?

We sustainably source our bamboo from Thai and Chinese forests.

  10. How should I care for my desk?

To keep dust from collecting on your desk, we advise wiping it down with a microfiber towel every once in a while. For a deeper clean, all you should need is a towel with warm water and gentle soap.

  11. Do I need to worry about drilling through my desktop if I mount my desk accessories?

No, you shouldn't. Bamboo is an extremely durable material that holds up well, even when you drill into it to mount your accessories. However, we do advise double-checking that the screws you are using are no longer than 1" thick before you install anything.

  12. Will I be able to assemble this desk by myself?

Attaching the frame to the desktop can definitely be done by one person. However, we do suggest you have a friend's help to turn the desk right-side up after you put it together. Check out our video showing just how easy it will be to assemble your UPLIFT Desk.

  13. Can I order a sample of the bamboo desktop?

At this time, we don't offer sample pieces of the 1" thick bamboo desktop. But you are always welcome to come on down to our Austin showroom to see all of our beautiful desktops in person!

Picked as the "Best Standing Desk" by Wirecutter, if you're looking for an environmentally friendly, genuine bamboo desk that can help you accomplish more throughout the day (and look great while doing it), the UPLIFT V2 Bamboo Stand Up Desk is here to deliver.

Our bamboo desktops are sourced and made via methods that are safer for you and the environment. Made from Moso bamboo free of pesticides, fertilizers, dyes, and stains; to get its beautiful colors, we carbonize our tops, bringing out the natural golden to light brown shades in its grains. At a full 1" thick, our bamboo tops are over 25% thicker than most tops, giving you extra stability and even more surface area around the edge of the desk.

We have two options for the desk frame—the UPLIFT V2 and UPLIFT V2-Commercial. No matter which frame you end up choosing, we know you'll love your UPLIFT V2 Bamboo Stand Up Desk today and for years to come. Hit in the office

Posted by Unknown on Sep 13th 2017

Great desk and the sustainable 6 ft bamboo top with the black frame is a hit in the office, everyone wants one ! It is nice to be able to switch from sit to stand without a hassle. I recommend the memory option, coworkers will be using your desk when you are not around and you want to be able to get your ideal settings back quickly. As a safety director I am very happy with the desk and even happier I was able to test it for our offices. A co-worker told me his son has a reinforced version at home to support three monitors. Many options and a very sturdy desk, we will likely buy more.

    Smooth transition

Posted by Unknown on Jun 22nd 2017

Let me start by saying, my Neurosurgeon, said because of my sedentary job I should get a sit to stand desk. Therefore, I got the 72"x30" 1" thick bamboo ergo cut desk. I received the desk in several boxes. They were very heavy. When I opened the boxes, I checked inventory and everything was there. I did have one grommet which was broke (More on that in a minute). Instructions were easy to follow. The desk is good quality. The legs themselves have substantial weight, but also good quality. I'm not a very handy person. However, with the instructions, and rereading to ensure I was getting it right, I was able to build the entire desk within 1 to 1.5 hrs. Now about that grommet. I called customer support, explained my issue, and they had me send a picture of the broken grommet. They sent a new grommet without question and I received it about a few days later. Great Customer Service! Great Desk! I'm extremely happy with my purchase.

Fine desk. Get the floor pad.

Posted by Unknown on May 23rd 2017

Great desk. Indestructible. Coffee, clamps, stacks of stuff -- all solid and good. It is actually so tough that mounting the control box is hard without pre-drilling the mount screws.

The floor pad is brilliant and essential. I stand 8 hours at this no problem (age 64), but would have a tougher time without the pad. The four position control is easy, and fine even if you only need two positions. Steady enough that the huge monitor does not wiggle too much.

The cord hiding trays are nice. The utility trays were worthless. Sent 'em back.

Finally, you have to be careful raising and lowering the desk, since it moves to position once you press the button. Any overhanging papers or stuff accumulated underneath the desk that is too high will create memorable crashes. Had a few; the unit was fine.

    Good desk

Posted by Buyer on Jan 4th 2017

This is a good desk for anyone serious about getting a new desk, even if they aren't particularly looking for a standing desk. The chair combo deal is also pretty good and could potentially save you a decent amount of money. I looked at many different brands of standing desks before I decided on this one. I do not regret that decision. A little pricey but it should last a long time and looks great.

    Pros:
    -Sturdy overall
    -Pre drilled holes
-Solid & thick beautiful bamboo wood
    -Adjust-ability for sitting and standing
-Easy to assemble by hand without power tools
    -Packaged well

    Works well

Posted by David Yates on Sep 3rd 2016

After owning my Bamboo desk now for 4 months, I'm still enjoying it. The only misleading thing about purchasing it was that it seemed like you had to purchase the locking wheel casters. I love them on my wood floor, but the desk does come with stationary feet. So if you plan to sit the desk on carpet there really isn't a necessary purchase.

    Things to keep in mind
Lift control - The lift adjustment control can go on either the left or the right side.

Examine everything before you assemble. Delivery guys dinged a couple of my boxes, but nothing was damaged.

I also plan to keep the desk LEGS box since it really the only thing that may break on this desk that would be hard to return. The legs contain the actual motors that lift the desk up and down.

    Pros:
Table top - It's nice looking solid piece of wood and seems to be pretty durable.
Power strip - Get the power strip (see picture barely shows behind the white cup on the desk) that attaches to the back of the desk, it's really nice and allowed me to have one plug that goes to the floor that plugs into my UPS.
Cable organizer - really nice. It attaches with screws and adhesive. I've loaded mine up with cables and it's holding nicely to the bottom.
UPLIFT Grommet Hole - I find left and right holes helpful for running cables (see picture white cable for phone power on left and my laptop cables on right)

    Cons:
Cable ties - The cable ties with adhesive back that come with the desk don't stick to the bamboo very well. Most of mine have come undone and I've replaced them with Velcro straps that I've run under the metal support beams that run the length of the desk. I had one drop to the floor and it was pretty hard to pull it off, so that's why I think it's the bamboo surface.

Monitor Arms - I do not recommend Human Solutions monitor arms. They work, but they are too stiff when trying to adjust the monitor height.

    Great Desks, Great Customer Service

Posted by Tim on Aug 26th 2016

I researched sit and stand desks for several months before purchasing two 72" desks with the bamboo tops. The Uplift desk is very well made and have had them now for about two months and have had no problems with them. The main reason I purchased from The Human Solution company is their great customer service and I hope they never lose that. They were never pushy, answered all my questions, and were helpful with the purchase. My wife and I both needed these because of the amount of sitting we were doing because of the nature of our business. It made a difference in our posture and our health.

There were other companies but free shipping and a seven year warranty with the great customer service made the difference for us and we haven't been disappointed! We were not paid to post a review nor offered anything in return for posting a review here. I wanted to post pictures of our setup but that is still in the works of getting the office arranged and all the cables and wires tied up neatly. I hope to come back here and get those posted so that you can see in fact that I do have two 72" desks with bamboo tops.

I will say that I did have one problem with a caster but The Human Solution was quick to get me a replacement and problem resolved!

Pros: They have great customer service and if you have a problem, they will help get resolved. They have been great to work with my entire purchase and after purchase.
Cons: I wished I had purchased sooner but I had to do the research to know what worked best for my wife and I.

    A Functional Beauty

Posted by peter f lodde on Dec 14th 2015

I just bought a The Human Solution UPLIFT Stand-Up Desk with black metal supports and bamboo desktop. I've got to tell you not only does it look even better than I had imagined (and I had very high hopes) but the functionality was more than I could imagine (since I had never even seen a Stand-Up desk much less used one). For me the size of the desk is just perfect (48" wide by 24" deep : not too big, but then again, not too small. And its very stable. I use my desk with a swedish balans chair and that, in combination with the UPLIFT foam cushion mat I purchased, means I am extremely relaxed and ergonomically "adjusted" whether standing or sitting. I also purchased the small semi-circular drawer that fastens beneath the desk top and swivels open; it's the perfect size for my mechanical pencils, paper clips, and erasers. I can't say enough for the Human Solution product (s) I purchased.

I also paid for desk assembly and room set up. It was all very efficient, white glove, and the fellow (Toni) who did the work was a pleasure to talk to and work with. I'm excited: since delivery and set up I have gotten more work done in a week than I have for a long time.

I had looked at desks from one of Human Solutions competitors available in one of the local high-end furniture stores. They were OK, I suppose its hard to tell without actually working on one) but didn't look as good and the mechanisms for raising and lowering these other desks didn't seem as quiet, or efficient, or as easy to access. And for some reason wooden tops were not yet available from the local merchandisers (what's up with that). But more importantly these other desks were at least $700 more expensive than the desk I purchased from The Human Solution. I can't possibly imagine how any of them could be $700 better than the product i purchased; that extra money only goes to pay for brick and mortar and a couple of middlemen I reckon. I'm all for buying local, believe me, but not $700 worth of local.

And buying locally I would have had to spend another $75 for delivery (even though I only live three miles down the road). Shipping from The Human Solution (in Austin, Texas) to my home in Madison, Wisconsin was free.

    Merry Christmas to me!

My sister and brother and law took one look at my new desk and immediately made plans to inquire about The Human Solution smaller version of my desk (they live in a one bedroom condo); they deem The Human Solution desk to be perfect for their needs.

Finally, the salesman at The Human Solution in Austin, Ryan, was one friendliest and helpful persons I have ever worked with over the phone. He helped make my whole purchasing
and researching experience a breath of fresh air. Truly.

If you are thinking about a Stand-Up desk I say GO FOR IT. Call Ryan.

    Pros: see above
Cons: I should have bought it sooner!

    Exceptional product

Posted by Jen on Sep 11th 2015

I researched standing desks for at least 2 months, leading up to my carpal tunnel surgery. I knew I needed to change the way I work ergonomically, and thus the search for a new desk began. After reading the health benefits of standing desks, the decision was made; but there are so many choices! I considered all the major players, read all the online reviews I could find, and ultimately narrowed it down to three: NextDesk Terra, Jarvis, and Uplift.

The first thing I did was make direct contact with customer service at each company to ask several simple questions. I called each one, and emailed each one. I am still awaiting a call back from NextDesk as I write this. Both Uplift and ErgoDepot (Jarvis) answered right away and responded to email proficiently. It became easy to eliminate the Terra from the final list.

The NextDesk Terra is beautiful (as is the Uplift - I ordered with the bamboo top) but at the end of the day, I simply could not bring myself to pay over $1000 more for a similar configuration. It just wasn't prudent. I was able to get a larger top and more options for right at $1000 less! I will also mention my bamboo top from Uplift is an inch thick, while NextDesk's is 3/4 of an inch thick. Also, it offers a 3 year warranty.

The Jarvis appears to be a very nice, if not very similar desk to the Uplift in many ways. The things that are different that helped sway my decision?

    * I knew for sure I wanted a bamboo top, and I knew for sure I wanted grommets. You can get a bamboo top with Jarvis, but they will not (currently as of Sept 2015) drill grommet holes. They were helpful in sending a video showing how I could drill the holes into the top myself. But why, when the Uplift includes them? Score one for Uplift.

    * Uplift uses standard circular grommet holes. Jarvis uses small rectangular grommets, 2 x 4 inches.. That's not a big difference, but I have an ErgoTech Freedom Arm for my Thunderbolt Display, and when I contacted ErgoTech's customer service to ask if the rectangular grommet would work with the mount, I was told "it might be a little too big." To be fair, I can't say one way or the other if it would have worked, but I personally prefer the look of the standard circular grommet. And I wanted bamboo. See above. Score another for Uplift.

    * The Jarvis bamboo top is 3/4 of an inch thick. My Uplift 900 bamboo top is a full inch. Does this matter? I am using both grommets (left and right) with grommet-based monitor mounts and I just feel better with that extra 1/4 of an inch.

I ordered my desk on a Thursday before Labor Day weekend. It shipped the next day, and I had it by Tuesday afternoon. I may have had it Monday, had it not been a holiday. FAST! I recruited my neighbor to help set it up, and an hour later we were both admiring my beautiful new desk. It's "scratch and dent" and I did notice just a couple of minor knicks in the surface. But seriously, it's beautiful. There were only two, and they are tiny. I can live with that for the deal I got!

I can highly recommend this desk. I purchased the 72 x 30 top and it is truly amazing! I have on the left side a 24" Dell U2412M on a Cotytech mount. I have on the right side a 27" Apple Thunderbolt Display on an ErgoTech Freedom Arm. The wire management is fine; Uplift includes plenty of adhesive mounts with cable ties to collect all those cords and cables.

One last thing I feel is important to mention: I was more than a little worried about the 'wobble' I kept reading about when the desk is at standing height, particularly if you use a monitor arm. I do have the desk on hardwood flooring. I am 5'7" and I do not notice ANY wobble, sitting or standing, in the course of a day's work. The only time I have noticed it at all is when I punched harder than I usually do typing on the keyboard. Then I noticed it a little. I'm thankful that I'm not a punch-typist. :)

TL;DR: Buy this desk! It's cost-effective, beautiful, offers just enough customization, ships FAST, and is easy to put together. Did I mention it's BEAUTIFUL?!!!

    Pros:
Cost-effective (not the cheapest one out there, but for what you get it's amazing!)
    Beautiful bamboo
    Stable
    Highly customizable

Cons: If I had to get nit-picky, I would have appreciated a small furniture pencil to hide the very few blemishes on the topside of the desk. But wait! I already have one from a previous unrelated purchase. I used it, you can't even tell those blemishes ever existed.
