National Ergonomic Conference and Exposition; Dec 2008 – Ergonomic Reviews and Blogs
Posted by Professor Ergo on Dec 30th 2008
Every year ergonomics and safety professionals travel to Las Vegas during December for the National Ergonomic Conference and Exposition. We identify how companies are trending - with respect to ergonomics - leading into the new year. This years show had many great speeches and products. I’ll be blogging about the three keynote speeches and several of the new ergonomic products.
The three keynote speeches were excellent: Dec 3 keynote: Driving Business Value in Benefits – Dr. Ronald S. Leopold MD, MBA, MPH; my personal favorite speech of the conference Dec 4 keynote: Ergonomics and Sustainability – James R. Hagan, PhD, MS Dec 5 keynote: Current and Future Opportunities in Ergonomics – Micheal J Smith, PhD, CPE
Although customers appear to be more sensitive to price than last year it’s probably not necessarily as much as you might think given the fact that ergonomic products are often needed for safety abatements and can increase the productivity of existing workers. The three ergonomic product covered in this blog are: 1. Herman Miller Embody Ergonomic Chair – I had a nice talk with Jeff Weber the Principal Designer of the Embody Chair. He shared his design thoughts with me at the show. 2. Goldtouch Go! Travel Keyboard – the new travel friendly split keyboard 3. Kinesis Freestyle V3 – sets the tent angle of your Freestyle keyboard
Thank you to the NECE organizers for delivering another excellent conference.
