Florence Knoll is an American architect and designer of the Knoll Florence Bench. Along with her husband, Hans Knoll, she established the legendary company. Florence Knoll studied extensively under Eero Saarinenen and developed revolutionary ideas about "total design" -- the process of incorporating all aspects of design including manufacturing, graphics, advertising, presentation, architecture, use of space and textiles, under a unified banner. In 2002, Florence Knoll was presented with the National Endowment for the Arts' National Medal of Arts.
