Model
We offer two different wood surfaces on our height adjustable desk: Cedar and Mesquite. All solid woods will use filler of various colors to fill in knots, bug-holes and imperfections in the wood. The filler is usually black, but other colors may be used at the woodworker's discretion.
Desk Shape
The UpLift 400 Native Wood Electric 25" - 47" Sit-Stand Desk (Black) is available with three different edge configurations.
Note: Desk sides are always a square edge.
Square Edge
If you want a more consistent surface with less filler, select a Square Edge desk finish. Desks with a straight edge have fewer desk edge imperfections because we cut away the character that exists near the bark of a tree.
Bark Line Edge
If you choose the Bark Line edge you will notice that it may have more character towards the outer edge. The Cedar wood barkline edge is fairly uniform so you will see wood grain and bark contours. The Mesquite wood barkline edge is more prone to bug trails and we use a clear or black filler where bug trail marks or cracks occur in Mesquite. If you are selecting the Mesquite wood surface, you can expect some character and filler in the wood at the front edge like in the image below. Also shown below is a close up of a cedar top barkline edge. Note that every desk varies but customers that visit our retail store always love these tops with slightly more people favoring the Mesquite top aesthetics. Most people do order the barkline edge as it really makes the desk unique and adds a "nature feel" to your office.
