The Humanscale Diffrient World Chair - Probably Cooler Than Your Current Chair

Austin, Texas is a city full of different kinds of people, music, and things to do. However, you will occasionally run into hipsters spouting their so-called "knowledge" about microbrews, fixed gear cycling, and crossfit training. Some even try to tell me about ergonomics! Of course, here at Human Solution, I get the chance to sit in a myriad of chairs, which makes my opinion about ergonomic seating a little more valid than theirs, so sit back and listen to what I have to say.

Since I started working here, my go-to chair has been the Steelcase Leap, which is a pretty popular chair. But then everyone started sitting in them, and everyone knows that once something gets too popular, all the cool kids think it's not so cool anymore. Being one of the top office cool kids, I ditched the Leap and started looking at Humanscale seating. I was drawn to the Diffrient World chair for 2 reasons: modern design and minimal adjustment. Humanscale prides themselves on making chairs that are able to fit users of different sizes without requiring an excess of levers and adjustability. This chair is made to move with you, not the other way around.

Once I sat down, I immediately noticed that the tri-panel backrest provided fantastic lumbar support. It was applied right where I needed it and the balance of pressure was perfect between a sitting and reclining position. Unlike normal task chairs, this has no seat mechanism, and moves using a counter-balance action. Another surprise was the level of comfort from the all mesh seat. I usually am not a fan of a non-cushioned seat, but the low abrasion mesh and the frameless front edge caused no pressure on the back of my legs while still giving me the breathability and coolness of mesh.

What really sets the World chair apart from other task seating is the philosophy behind its construction. It's created with 50% less materials than normal task chairs, which in turn makes it half as heavy. This means less transportation and manufacturing costs, which makes the World chair one of the greenest chairs on the market. So not only is it a great ergonomic chair, but now you can also be snooty about your environmental footprint. Everyone wins!
