Every Humanscale Freedom Chair includes:
- Self-adjusting recline
- The Freedom chair features an intelligent, counter-balance reclining mechanism that provides the right amount of support throughout the full range of motion, regardless of your size or weight. This means there's no tension springs to adjust and no recline locks to worry about.
- During a recline, the angle between your torso and legs open up for better body functioning and so you can maintain near constant eye level during the recline.
- Dual pivot backrest
- Extra motion provided by the backrest during recline automatically adjusts to the changing needs of your spine.
- Provides up to 1 inch of additional lumbar support when needed
- Contoured cushions are carefully sculpted to match your body's contours and increase contact area so it reduces pressure points.
- Cushions are modular so changing them is easy. This way your chair never goes out of style and/or you can replace worn cushions so your chair can last a lifetime.
- The Freedom Chair is rated to 250 lbs and carries a limited, liftetime warranty.

Choose How You Want Your Freedom Chair to Work |

A. Do you want a Dynamic headrest? -
- Position-sensitive headrest moves into place when you recline and out of the way when you sit up
- The headrest has a 5" range for vertical adjustment
- It moves with the natural arc of head/neck for perfect support throughout the range of recline.
- Contoured to cradle the head and neck in comfort
Our recommendation: Most users will want the headrest. Sometimes women of smaller stature are more comfortable without the headrest.
B. Which seat cushion would you like? -
- Standard foam seat is contoured to fit your body and reduce pressure points. The Freedom Chair seat is both comfortable and solid.
- Technogel seat cushion -
Non-degradable, non-compressible Technogel layer on top of a foam core provides maximum pressure distribution and offers unmatched, long-term comfort.
Note: Technogel seat is available only with the Wave and Vellum fabrics and is not available with leather, suede or Millenium vinyl.
Our recommendation: Technogel has a firmer "sit" than the standard foam that softens up somewhat after a few minutes and will offer better back support if you are seated for long periods of time. Users who are up and down more, may prefer the standard foam.
C. Choose the Height cylinder for your chair -
- Standard height cylinder fits 90% of the population
- Low range cylinder is available for very petite users
- High range cylinder is available for very tall users
- Tall and Extra Tall cylinders, combine with a footring to make the Freedom Chair a drafting chair

D. Which armrests would you prefer? -
Our recommendation: Many users prefer the added adjustability of the advanced armrests. |
- Standard synchronized armrests
- Revolutionary armrests move in tandem to eliminate the dangers of uneven arm positioning.
- Natural lift and release action allows for immediate repositioning without the need for buttons or locks.
- The armrests provide a 6 inch range of vertical motion to accomodate all users and all tasks.
- The armrests can be positioned below thigh-level for close table or desk work
- The armrests are attached to the backrest, not the seat like most chairs so they stay in the same relation to your body when you recline
- Technogel armpad offers superb comfort
- Advanced Armrests -
- Offer all the same features of the Standard Armrests plus:
- Pivot at the elbow for width adjustment and are lockable in 5° increments.
- Automatic unlock feature when positioned inward allows user to instantly exit chair

C. Choose your casters -
- Hard Casters (standard) - 2 1/2" double-wheeled for carpeted floors
- Soft Casters - 2 1/2" soft double-wheeled for hard floors
- Glides - non-rolling glides for fixed location use
- Locking Casters - lock into position when you sit on the chair
Choose from 65 different fabrics and leathers. Yes, you can select different colors for your back, seat and/or headrest at an added cost. Call for custom color combinations. Wave, Vellum and Millenium (vinyl) are included in the base price. Promessa is a soft, synthetic leather. Leathers prices vary by grade. We recommend the Sabrina leather for those seeking low grain, very soft and supple, leather.
