Guest Blog: Reaching New Heights (6' 5") with UPLIFT Desk!

Guest blogger John M has been a programmer for 19 years and recently upgraded to an adjustable height UPLIFT Desk. Check out his review below!

My name is John M and I have been working as a computer programmer for the last 19 years. My job pretty much requires sitting at a desk and typing for most of a standard 8-9 hour work day. Over this time, I’ve gained weight, experienced on and off back pain and have limited energy when I get home from work.

Recently I’ve read reports stating that sitting for prolonged periods is considered as dangerous to your health as smoking. Most of us probably sit on the drive to and from work, sit at work, sit while eating meals and sit while watching TV. I figured I couldn’t do much about sitting in the car and sitting while eating, but I could do something about sitting all day at work. After a lot of research, I finally decided to purchase an UPLIFT desk. And boy am I glad I did!

I wanted to use my existing 72” wide by 36” deep desktop, so I only had to purchase the frame. Assembly was a breeze and everything went as expected without any problems. The instructions were easy to follow and the on-line videos were helpful, too.

I’ve been using the Uplift desk for over two weeks now and I can confidently say that IT IS AWESOME!! It is quick, quiet and very sturdy. I love the fact that the entire desk is raised (and everything on it), unlike other products that raise only the keyboard and monitor, leaving you to bend over to use the phone or write something down. I upgraded to the memory keypad as well, which was definitely worth it since it is so easy to alternate between sitting and standing at the touch of a button. I also have the standing desk mat, which provides extra comfort for the feet.

I’m 6’ 5” tall, so I had two concerns about buying this height-adjustable desk: Would it raise high enough for me to work comfortably while standing and would it wobble at such a high height? Turns out I didn’t have to be concerned at all.

When standing, I raise the desk to 47.5”. Add in the 1.125” thickness of the desktop and .75” standing mat, and I am working at a very comfortable height. (If you are taller than 6’ 5”, the desk can be raised to a maximum height of 50.9” to accommodate your additional height easily.) Even at this high height, there is very little wobble at all, if any.

After just two weeks, I am already up to standing for 5 hours per work day and am confident I will continue go higher. I’ve also noticed feeling more productive while working and more energetic when I get home from work. I think it’s safe to say that the long-term health benefits are going to be incredibly rewarding!

I do have to mention one downside that I’m certain you will experience: You won’t be able to get much work done after you initially assemble your desk because your co-workers will keep visiting your office to see the desk in action and try it out for themselves!!

I highly recommend purchasing an UPLIFT desk from TheHumanSolution.com. They produce high-quality products and their customer service is top-notch. (Tyler was extremely patient and helpful in answering all of my many questions.) I only wish that I had purchased this desk years ago!
