The Humanscale Diffrient World Chair Review

The Humanscale Diffrient World Chair Review

Posted by Human Solution on Apr 12th 2012

We received a Humanscale Diffrient World Chair in our showroom recently. My first impression was that it looks very cool. There's an ongoing joke in our office about overuse of the words “sleek” and “stylish” in product description copy, but this chair is very sleek and stylish. The chair we have has a black mesh seat and black mesh back with a white frame.  It would fit very well in an office that’s trying to pull off a modern, minimalistic look.

I've been sitting in this ergonomic mesh chair for the past few days, trying to get a feel for it. The design is similar to the Humanscale Liberty Chair, but I was never a big fan of the Liberty. I do like this one.  At 6' 2'', with long legs, my experience with the Liberty was always that the seat pan seemed a tad small. Perhaps it's the difference between the World Chair's mesh seat and the Liberty Chair's cushioned seat, but the World Chair seems to be a better and more comfortable fit for me. (The Diffrient World Chair is also available with a cushioned seat if you prefer extra padding).

The most obvious difference between the two chairs is that the World Chair offers a more streamlined design. You sit down in the World Chair and notice how lightweight it feels. (Put it on a hardwood floor and you can really tell.) But the chair is lightweight because there are very few moving parts, not for lack of sturdiness. On the contrary, the World Chair’s frame feels very sturdy.

Another thing: A lighter chair means it costs less to ship.  We offer free shipping on all sales within the contiguous United States, but lighter shipping costs can make a big difference for international shipments. Because the Humanscale Diffrient World Chair is so lightweight, we think it's an excellent and economical option for all customers, including our customers overseas.

In my opinion, there is but one limitation to the chair. There are only two arm options available. Neither offers the ability to pivot inward. The chair that we have in our showroom has the height adjustable arms. They work well. As they adjust upward, they will automatically slide forward to put you in a comfortable position. When purchasing your Humanscale Diffrient World Chair, I strongly recommend going with the height adjustable arms.

The World Chair from Humanscale is available in a number of different mesh, frame and fabric colors. I hope this Diffrient World Chair Review has been helpful!
